Its difficult to see your loved ones suffering. Mum has just been transferred to a nursing home and my sister to the hospice for respite, so we will see how things unfold.
Over at UKS Art Journal the prompts have continued. I am trying to keep up but I do not have much time now. Anyway I made these four pages a while ago when Mum got sick first, and this will cover the prompts 7&8.
Ist Page:
Photo transfer of my mum with Gel medium.( I used a print from my ink jet printer for the vintage look. did not let the medium dry before removing the backing.)
Background-painted with Distress inks:Tattered rose & worn lipatick.
Stamp: Script---hero arts.
foliage & flowers--Prima--Sticky backed canvas---inked with scattered straw & worn lipstick.
Lace stuck on with glossy ascents.
Cut out gothic window with craft knife.
Background: Tattered rose, scattered straw,Archival ink sepia.
Stamps: Artemio---foliage-(crushed olive & walnut stain inks), Stampington & Co---Arch--(white embossing powder, & walnut ink), Nonsequitur---ground--(forest moss ink), Scrollsworks---iron fence--(black ardhival ink & brown tomboy pen),
Hero arts---script--(scattered straw ink),
door knobs---brads--papermania.
3rd Page:
Background: Scattered straw & Tattered rose distress inks.
Outlined window with Tomboy pens-(020,723,977, N15)
Stamps: Brick--Alexstamping.com-sepia archivalink
pillars: Scrollsworks--stazon grey ink.
wire mesh--scrollsworks---archival sepia ink.
Leaves---dylusions--sepia ink
Leaves & pillars were painted with Tomboy pens(they are watersoluble which I forgot)
Used gesso to knock back the pillars and paint ran a little. Outlined the leaves & pillars with Letreset black ink pen. There is something missing about this page, the pillars are not grounded enough. I will come back to it sometime!
4th Page:
Image transfer from ink jet picture using gel medium, same method as first picture. This is a picture of my parents before they got married.
Background: Scattered straw, tattered rose, vintage photo distress inks. bottom of page is worn a bit but this gives it dimension.
tissue tape---idea-ology-Tim Holtz--under the lace.
Stamps: Music--Papermania Urban stamps--forest moss distress ink then gessoed.
Flourish:--Tim holtz Urban Chic---black archival ink.
Frame hand cut and embossed with Tim holts embossing folder, & inked with tattered rose distress ink.
White Lumiere paint for the white lines around frame.
Doily & lace.
Parents: Prima stickers alaphabet.
Opening the gothic window is like looking into my Past----
and Future.......
