Just back from a very relaxing weekend with dh in Castlemarter Co Cork.  This weekend was a gift from our dd Deirdre  Christmas 2010, and we were only able to go now, so it was a lovely break.

I was behind on my 6th page in the UKScrappers Art Journal, so I spent yesterday catching up.  the prompt was-- Layers.  I was looking forward to this as I love my paints & stamps etc.
Background:  I used old dressmakers pattern paper and stamped randomly on it with purple stazon ink.
Stamps: Personal Impressions & Stampington & Co -- Botanica & Arched Glass,

Then I stuck this on the page with Golden Gel Medium, and I painted over this with
Blonde Moments lustre paints-Spring yellow, & Adirondac Dabber- Juniper.
Then I used the following stamps with purple stazon, & archival coffee.
Stamps:  Girl--Paperbagstudio,   Boy-Joanna Sheen,   Mesh-Scrollswork
Grid stencil used Lettuce Dabber.

I went over the girl lightly with gesso and the whole page with Blonde Moments Lustre paint-Spring Choral using a baby wipe to tone down the images.

circles Stamp--hero Arts using sepia ink.
Clip Art--Mariesfreebies.blogspot.com, stuck with gel medium.  Quote (Woody Harrelson) printed from computer, & inked with dusty concord distress ink.  Clip art outlined with Dimensional paint -victorian, and white gesso to soften the outline.

The border is a stencil using dimensional paint -Victorian and this has a glossy appearance and is dimensional.  Title- Layers- printed from the computer , font appleboy BTN.

Doodles---UKS Art Journal

Its been a few days since I blogged.  I was in Limerick visiting my 92 year old mother who is in hospital with a stroke.  She is doing ok, but we the family have to make arrangements for her future care.  This can be a distressful time for all, but with God's help we will get through it.
Over in UKScrappers Art Journal forum the 5th prompt is Doodles....
Now I have never doodled in my life, so I was not looking forward to this at all!  I googled you tube and found some inspiration there, so here is my attempt.

This was a background I did at a class in London using left over paints etc. from the cover of this art journal.  I used a black Sharpie  fine point marker around the edges and I also used a Letraset pen for the small doodles.  Not happy with it, should have used the background for something else!

So i decided to try my hand at Zentangles.  This was easier as I had a blank page.
Used the same pens, and drew a circle first , then drew in the other lines and went on from there.  sorry about the pictures, the light was very poor.
I wrote (doodled) the words doodles and zentangles
on the page also.

It was my grandson Caelum's first birthday yesterday and I made this card for him.

Journaling:---Art journal

Well they are very busy over at UKscrappers Art Journal Journey.http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=455  Journaling is the 4th prompt and here is my page.
This page was inspired by   http://www.artplayatmilliande.com--a/ very talented lady & her young daughter.
I first did a photo transfer with gel medium.  This was my first time doing this, and it turned out ok, a bit dark.
Background: Used watersoluble wax crayons, prussion blue, dark ultramarine, sky blue, vertclair & yellow.  Brushed over with watered gesso.
Scribbled circles in dark ultramarine, & painted over with acrylic paint, cerulean blue, sap green, lemon yellow,& ultramarine blue.
Eyes & face painted lightly with black & white acrylics.
Lips-distress ink worn lipstick.
Checkquered lines drawn with black sharpie pen, and painted with black & white acrylic paint.

Face painted lightly with pale pink acrylic, and I painted over the white diamonds with red acrylic paint.
Top border : I splattered distress ink - worn lipstick with a straw.
Words were cut from a magazine.
I am not happy with the eyes on the right page but did not know how to improve them, my painting skills are limited.
Thanks for looking, a comment would be welcome.
