Image transfer ---Heritage

Its been a while since I blogged.  I have been down home with my mum and sister who were both in hospital.
Its difficult to see your loved ones suffering.  Mum has just been transferred to a nursing home and my sister to the hospice for respite, so we will see how things unfold.

Over at UKS Art Journal the prompts have continued.  I am trying to keep up but I do not have much time now.  Anyway I made these four pages a while ago when Mum got sick first, and this will cover the prompts 7&8.

Ist Page:

Leaves & pillars were painted with Tomboy pens(they are watersoluble which I forgot)
Used gesso to knock back the pillars and paint ran a little.  Outlined the leaves & pillars with Letreset black ink pen.  There is something missing about this page, the pillars are not grounded enough.  I will come back to it sometime!

4th Page:

Just back from a very relaxing weekend with dh in Castlemarter Co Cork.  This weekend was a gift from our dd Deirdre  Christmas 2010, and we were only able to go now, so it was a lovely break.

Grid stencil used Lettuce Dabber.

I went over the girl lightly with gesso and the whole page with Blonde Moments Lustre paint-Spring Choral using a baby wipe to tone down the images.

Doodles---UKS Art Journal

Its been a few days since I blogged.  I was in Limerick visiting my 92 year old mother who is in hospital with a stroke.  She is doing ok, but we the family have to make arrangements for her future care.  This can be a distressful time for all, but with God's help we will get through it.
Over in UKScrappers Art Journal forum the 5th prompt is Doodles....
Now I have never doodled in my life, so I was not looking forward to this at all!  I googled you tube and found some inspiration there, so here is my attempt.

This was a background I did at a class in London using left over paints etc. from the cover of this art journal.  I used a black Sharpie  fine point marker around the edges and I also used a Letraset pen for the small doodles.  Not happy with it, should have used the background for something else!

So i decided to try my hand at Zentangles.  This was easier as I had a blank page.
Used the same pens, and drew a circle first , then drew in the other lines and went on from there.  sorry about the pictures, the light was very poor.
I wrote (doodled) the words doodles and zentangles
on the page also.

It was my grandson Caelum's first birthday yesterday and I made this card for him.

Journaling:---Art journal

Well they are very busy over at UKscrappers Art Journal Journey.http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=455  Journaling is the 4th prompt and here is my page.
This page was inspired by   http://www.artplayatmilliande.com--a/ very talented lady & her young daughter.
I first did a photo transfer with gel medium.  This was my first time doing this, and it turned out ok, a bit dark.
Background: Used watersoluble wax crayons, prussion blue, dark ultramarine, sky blue, vertclair & yellow.  Brushed over with watered gesso.
Scribbled circles in dark ultramarine, & painted over with acrylic paint, cerulean blue, sap green, lemon yellow,& ultramarine blue.
Eyes & face painted lightly with black & white acrylics.
Lips-distress ink worn lipstick.
Checkquered lines drawn with black sharpie pen, and painted with black & white acrylic paint.

Face painted lightly with pale pink acrylic, and I painted over the white diamonds with red acrylic paint.
Top border : I splattered distress ink - worn lipstick with a straw.
Words were cut from a magazine.
I am not happy with the eyes on the right page but did not know how to improve them, my painting skills are limited.
Thanks for looking, a comment would be welcome.

Monday, 30 January 2012

Well it was a dark damp day here in the Midlands, I must get crafting to cheer me up!  I had a very pleasant day yesterday.  I sat in the conservatory most of the day crafting, and dh was in his armchair reading.  We had some pleasant music on,  and it was so nice to have company.  Usually I am down in my craft room in the basement all alone.
I made some stamps  from fun foam using Diana Wakley's new stamps for inspiration.  I am delighted with them.  Here is a page where  I roughly stamped them on and here are the stamps also.  I cut out the silhouettes on Cr Robo using sew pattern font.  Traced them on to the foam and drew some patterns on them heavily with a biro, and then cut them out.  Great fun!

this card i made for my niece's new baby girl.
Dress template : Stampington & Co
Card base: Basic grey--Lilikate
Rub ons:  cherish & babe---Royalbrush.com
Die cut label: Quickcuts.
ribbon & gem.  the little hanger came from local clothes shop.

A simple card but nice I think.  Sentiment is a foam stamp (unknown) inked with distress ink--shabby shutters.  I pricked around the edges with a pricking tool.

This was a wedding anniversary card for my son Eoin.  .After spending 10 years in Sydney he came home & married a lovely English girl and is living in the warmest place in England -Brighton.
White card embossed with
Keepsake embossing board -open heart &tall stories
Embossed panel : sizzix emb folder --birds & branches
Inks:  distress inks--fired brick, Musterd seed, shabby shutters, & archival sepia.
Stamp: anitas,  and some ribbon.
last card was cut on CR Robo using a GSD file from UKScrappers by Shirley Anne.  I drew the flower with the robo first with Staedtler purple, before cutting it out, also the sentiment --brock script font.  Went over them with glue pen & added gold glitter.
stamps: Penny Black & Design Objections, inked in warm red & over stamped with black.
kreaxions  corner punch,  sorry the picture is not great.

We are promised some very cold weather over the next day or two, so have to stock up on some goodies in case we are snowed in---

Consumerism--uks art journal

Well after a good nights sleep  I am blogging early (for me).   I have the house to myself for an hour or two so I can think straight.  I am really enjoying the course over at  http://www.ukscrappers.co.uk/boards/forumdisplay.php?f=455 This course ( the first online one I have ever done). is getting my mojo back for me., and I find I am crafting every day to get the journal pages done.  Great stuff!
The next prompt was Consumerism, how it effects us etc.  Here is my page:
Background: painted with Inktense watersoluble crayons--sun yellow, baked earth,& tangerene.
Stencil: used die cut Tim Holtz -jalopy and sprayed over it with Procion dye-turquoise.
highlights on car painted with a mix of gold & black acrylic paint.

Stamps:  rings-Hero arts, spots-Denami design, edge-Dylusions, mesh-Scrollswork,alphabet-Papermania
Inks: Distress worn lipstick, broken china, black archival.

Here is the finished page.  The speach baubles were cut from old book page and inked with distress inks -shabby shutters, mustared seed, broken china.  The text was printed on pc and inked with tattered rose distress ink, lines made with a black sharpie pen.  Just realised how grubby the table is behind the photo- sorry about that!
